VICTORY: Next One Leather Go Fur-Free!

October 22, 2009

Today, campaigners turned up at the Next One Leather store in Leeds to continue the spree of regular demonstrations outside the shop and to protest their sale of fur.

After holding posters and handing out leaflets, security staff arrived to kick the protest outside, however the owner of Next One Leather invited campaigners into the shop to discuss their concerns about the sale of real fur.

The store was completely fur-free and they were reassured that real fur would not be stocked ever again and a statement to confirm so will follow suite.

This is a great victory for our campaign against the sale of real fur in the West Yorkshire area and would like to thank everybody who contacted Next One Leather and attended peaceful protests there.

As a result of all fur being removed, we will be calling off the day of action planned for Saturday and are asking for all contact with the shop to cease. We also ask that campaigners no longer contact those companies associated with N.O.L.

THE BRITISH FUR TRADE ASSOCIATION (BFTA) is an apologist group, trying to defend the sale of real fur and represent those companies who continue to sell produce of animal cruelty. Please politely contact them in complaint of what they do:

It’s A Knock Out Update

October 5, 2009

Since it’s launch, just over a fortnight ago, the It’s A Knock Out Campaign has stopped 5 companies from stocking real fur, including one national chain. We are now only left with one company stocking real fur in West Yorkshire, Next One Leather.

As a result of the campaign fulfilling it’s purpose, it has been decided that the ‘It’s A Knock Out’ campaign should now end and a specific and focused one should take its place to stop Next One Leather. We thank everybody who has supported the campaign so far, and urge you to continue this support in aid of our new campaign:

NEXT ONE LEATHER CAMPAIGN

October 1, 2009

In 2007 Accent Clothing removed all fur from sale following a single protest outside their store, however our store detectors found that they had a number of Belstaff rabbit trimmed jackets on sale.

We are now aware that these have been permanently taken off sale and as such we are now calling off the planned demonstration at the store, which was due to be held tomorrow.

Many thanks to everybody who contacted them in complaint. This now leaves only one target, Next One Leather, in our It’s A Knock Out anti-fur campaign.

TK Maxx Remove Fur – Check Your Local Store

October 1, 2009

TK Maxx issued a fur-free policy to CAFT stating “We don’t sell any fur products and this does include rabbit fur”, however we have been alerted that a number of stores have had real fur on sale due to it being bought in from suppliers by mistake.

The Leeds store had a singular coyote trimmed jacket on sale, however this has now been removed following customer services being alerted to the decision from the Head Office.

We ask that people be on alert and check their local TK Maxx and, if real fur is found, alert the store manager and it will be removed.

Daniel Footwear to Go Fur-Free

September 22, 2009

West Yorkshire Animal Rights have been in discussion with the Managing Director of Daniel Footwear, which has resulted in the decision for the company to stop the sale of real fur as of next fashion season, Spring/Summer as the items could not be returned to the manufacturer.

We thank Daniel Footwear for the decision they have made and as a result ask all our supporters to call off any contact with the company, demonstrations planned, boycotts and remove any pages on websites naming the company as a distributor of fur products.

Many Thanks,
W.Y.A.R.

It’s A Knock Out Launched

September 20, 2009

For the past three years, there have been a limited amount of shops in West Yorkshire willing to sell real fur. However, this season a number have already come to our attention.

It’s a Knock Out is a new campaign launched by West Yorkshire Animal Rights Group aimed at stopping these stores from stocking real fur and gaining fur-free policies.

The fur trade has been exposed countless times all over the world, each revealing the same cruelty towards, and suffering of, animals farmed and killed entirely for fashion purposes. This is completely unnecessary and the only reason fur is around is for people’s vanity.

NAMED AND SHAMED!
On the menu bar is a list of stores who are currently stocking real fur and contributing to the suffering of animals. Please politely contact them to voice your disgust, boycott their companies and attend demonstrations against them.

If you are a store listed, do not hesitate to get in touch with us. We ask that fur-free policies consist of:
To whom it may concern,
This email is to inform you that as of [date], [company name] will not be stocking real fur, including rabbit, and all fur items have been removed from sale.
Yours Sincerely,
[Company Representative]
